Basic Qualifications
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or a related Science or Mathematics field. Also requires 5+ years of job-related experience, or a Master’s degree plus 3 years of job-related experience.
Clearance Requirements
Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required within a reasonable period of time. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
Responsibilities For This Position
General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Quality Engineer. This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.
Representative Duties And Tasks
- Develops and reviews contracts, documents, drawings, and instructions for conformance to customer, program, and company requirements.
- Fully understands requirements to ensure flow down and compliance.
- Collects, organizes, and analyzes data to identify trends and recommend actions where necessary.
- Plans and execute audits to verify conformance to all requirements.
- Supports metrics and reporting.
- Supports root cause investigations, corrective/preventive action plan development, and completion and verification of effectiveness of implemented actions.
- Prepares inputs and participates in reviews and meetings including technical reviews and customer reviews.
- Works with multiple organizations including Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain, Finance, Contracts and Program Management.
- Witnesses and/or monitors test activities.
- Works under minimal supervision.
- Interfaces with customer representatives and suppliers.
- Travel may be required.
- Security clearance is required.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Knowledge of engineering (electrical and mechanical) methodologies, tools, and standards.
- Ability to think creatively and strategically.
- Awareness of ISO 9001:2015 Standard.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills.
- Strong skills in communicating issues and their impacts and driving corrective actions.
- Strong ability to clearly recognize and report relevant problems and drive resolution.
- Strong skills in reviewing documents/drawings/instructions for conformance to requirements.
- Strong skills in reporting quality activities, findings, and issues both in writing and verbally.
Preferred Degree Types And Experience
- Previous experience with auditing.
- Previous experience with implementing government requirements.
