About 1Berkshire

1Berkshire is a county-wide, not-for-profit, membership organization focused on economic development and promotion of the region as a preferred place to visit, live, and grow a business. As the region’s official economic development organization, 1Berkshire provides programs that connect businesses with each other and with potential customers. We aim to be the voice of the Berkshire business community, working to develop future leaders, both youth (260+ graduates) and professional (640+ graduates), and supporting entrepreneurs at all stages with free consultations (150+ annually), networking events (80+ annually), skill-building programs, grant support and distribution ($2.1 million in FY23), and many other resources.
As the Regional Tourism Council delegate for the Berkshires, 1Berkshire actively promotes four-season tourism through robust year-round marketing programs and products, positioning all sectors of the visitor economy to be seen far and wide by primary feeder markets (NYC and Boston) and further afield. In FY23, our Marketing Impact was 86 million impressions; Social Media presence was 24 million impressions, and berkshires.org – the #1 tool travelers use to plan trips to the region – saw more than 2 million impressions.

Our History

1Berkshire was created in June 2016 by a merger of four countywide economic development organizations: the Berkshire Economic Development Corporation, the Berkshire Chamber of Commerce, the Berkshire Visitors Bureau, and the Berkshire Creative Economy Council. By combining these entities, we leverage resources, improve efficiency, expand audience reach, and coordinate programs that benefit every area of the region. We are the voice of the Berkshire business community with a strong membership and a powerful network of resources.

Bringing the Larger Community Together

Through our partnerships, we created our Board of Directors and investors network that encompasses the energy of the business community, our visitors, the creative economy, entrepreneurs, and young professionals. If you are interested in supporting our work, consider joining 1Berkshire.

Tourism in the Berkshires

1Berkshire runs and operates regional tourism. We strive to bring more and more people to the Berkshires year after year. We are able to do this through various forms of social media, e-blasts, and with our visit the Berkshires website.
