Clearance Requirements

Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required within a reasonable period of time. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

We will rely on your knowledge and skills to develop, implement and maintain methods, operation sequence and processes in the manufacturing or fabrication of parts, components, sub-assemblies and final assemblies. In this entry-level position, the Manufacturing Engineer will develop strong communications with internal teams to estimate manufacturing costs, determine time standards and make recommendations for tooling and process requirements of new or existing product lines. At GDMS, we continually seek ways to develop and improve manufacturing methods, utilizing our team’s knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.

This Manufacturing Engineer will work at the Integrated Support Facility (ISF) within the Repair Operations (RO) Team and be a crucial player in the day-to-day activities of repairing and upgrading the MK 6 MOD 1 Guidance System.

Primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Generate assembly and inspection instructions for manufacturing and repair processes for Guidance System hardware, including development and analysis of TFRs, handling procedures, and other related procedural documentation.
  • Evaluate defective hardware and offer repair recommendations in compliance with approved processes, drawings, and governing requirements.
  • Organize and conduct audits of guidance operations for compliance with documented processes and procedures.
  • Research and prepare Engineering Change Requests (ECR) for submittal to the customer and design agency. The Manufacturing Engineer will work with Design Agent on continuous improvement for manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for compiling failure records, defects, and design updates for the generation of detailed step-by-step route sheets to be used on the production floor.
  • Must be able to read and comprehend both electrical and mechanical drawings as well as possessing working knowledge of manufacturing principles, tooling, equipment, and materials.
  • Understands and is capable to redline and update both electrical and mechanical drawings.
  • Responsible for achieving specific Cost Improvement goals by utilizing Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing principles.

What You Bring To The Table

  • A bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering, a related specialized area or field, or equivalent experience.
  • Teamwork skills are essential to your success within the RO team and the ISF.
  • Clear understanding of manufacturing engineering concepts, principles, and theories.
  • Clear understanding with manufacturing processes and electrical/mechanical components, systems and applications.
  • Strong electronic and mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.
  • Ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings.
  • Candidate must be a self-starter willing to work in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Candidate must have strong communication skills, written and oral, and be proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
