This position reports directly to the Executive Director of the ’68 Center and sets the vision and future direction of the Advising team and Career Education Programs. The ideal candidate will be a natural leader and able to inspire a team by example, build strong cross-campus partnerships, and support student success in selecting internships, post-graduate employment, and/or graduate school.
Responsibilities
As the Director of the 68 Center’s Career Education team, this position oversees the college’s overall career advising program, which includes:
- Manages advising team of 5 and sets the strategy for the overall Career Community and advising programs.
- Develops the ‘68 Center’s Career preparation curriculum to help undergraduates explore their options through a comprehensive suite of early engagement services and programs.
- Collaborates closely with first and second year Deans, cross-campus partners, and others to ensure the learning objectives for Career Education programs.
- Regularly assesses programs quantitatively and qualitatively while contributing to a data-informed culture and decision making.
- Supports the greater ‘68 Center and division goals.
Qualifications
- BA/BS and five years of relevant experience required. Experience could be in career services or in a related advising capacity such as counseling, recruiting, human resources, a Dean’s office, or other higher education or industry settings. Master’s degree preferred.
- Supervisory and leadership experience are required, including a track record of leading a high-functioning team.
- Compelling communication, relationship building, project management, and team-oriented skills are essential.
- Ability to balance a portfolio of projects and programs while effectively overseeing others who are doing the same.
