We know that these last few months of social distancing and stay-at-home orders have been challenging. Though Massachusetts has begun to reopen in accordance with the Baker-Polito Administration’s Four-Phase plan, some businesses and public places will need to wait just a bit longer. It is a challenge to not be able to do all of the things you love, and it’s easy to focus on what you can’t do right now, but we think it’s helpful to keep in mind several things you CAN do right now.

Help out your local businesses.

Check out our ideas for supporting small businesses. While you may not be able to browse stores in person or sit down for dinner in your favorite restaurant, you can offer your support through the purchase of gift cards, sharing their posts on social media, ordering takeout, and more!

Enjoy the great outdoors.

There are so many wonderful opportunities to explore the Berkshires right now. With some outdoor recreational spaces already open and more opening in the future, this is a great time to get outside and take in the Berkshires’ abundant natural beauty. Check out Berkshire Natural Resources Council, the Trustees of Reservations, and Mass Audubon for some great hiking and exploration ideas!

Take some time for yourself.

If you’re looking for some fun things to keep yourself entertained, check out 1Berkshire’s staff-curated Homebound Fun and Cabin Fever Survival page. It’s updated weekly with great links to things you can listen to, read, watch, make, cook, and more, all from the comfort of your home – and many of those links are to local businesses and institutions!

Go virtual.

Speaking of local resources, if you’re missing some of your favorite Berkshire spots, check out our Virtual Berkshires page. You can take in some great tours and experiences to remind you of the spirit of the Berkshires and tide you over until you can experience them again in person. Also, tune in each Thursday at 4 for our Facebook LIVE takeover.on our Visit the Berkshires page We will be live at some of your favorite Berkshire spots each week.

We hope these resources help make it a little easier to bear the waiting until you can go out and do what you love. Hang in there – we’ll get through this together!
