One of the many great things about living in the Berkshires is our shared sense of community and desire to better connect with those who relocate or visit our towns. Finding a local news source that holds these same values could have been difficult, but luckily for us, there is Rural Intelligence. Since 2008, Rural Intelligence has been working to make these connections a reality.
With an emphasis on unique and interesting local stories, Rural Intelligence captures the many ways our region stands out amongst its peers. “Whether it is a mom-and-pop store, emerging cultural venue, a locavore food truck, a newly opened restaurant or a fascinating local personality, we want to find and share what makes the Berkshires special,” said Mark Williams, the publisher for Rural Intelligence. This approach to storytelling has helped Rural Intelligence become a staunch advocate and voice for the region, promoting from within what makes us special.
Rural Intelligence has recently released an app that aims to better help visitors and residents explore the county. “The Rural Intelligence web magazine has attracted a very loyal and growing readership of local and second homeowners, but we realized that there were many visitors to our region who also were looking to find the places to stay, eat and enjoy the area’s cultural activities,” Mark said. With a user-friendly interface and a wealth of information about the region’s businesses, the app offers an easy way to plan where to go next. Also for businesses in the area, there is an opportunity with this app to get your venue in front of a new audience.
“People trust us because we are careful to provide content we know our readers will appreciate and, more importantly, use on a regular basis,” said Mark. This trust is the center of the philosophy behind the Rural Intelligence web magazine and app. It allows them to grow and better promote themselves and the region and 1Berkshire would like to recognize them for all of their hard work and dedication.
