PITTSFIELD — Those three-hour round-trip road trips to Greenfield are finally about to end at Shire City Herbals.
The company, which makes vinegar-based health tonics, including the popular Fire Cider brand, has completed a $1.4 million expansion project which includes the construction of its first on-site commercial kitchen in a former warehouse at 15 Commercial St. that the firm purchased last year.
Since its inception in a church kitchen in Pittsfield in 2011, Shire City Herbals has manufactured its products in a shared commercial kitchen at the Franklin County Development Corporation in Greenfield, which co-owner Amy Heubner said is roughly a three-hour round trip from Pittsfield.
