Colleen Taylor
Name
: Colleen Taylor

Title: Owner

What is your 3 sentence biography? / What is your personal elevator pitch?
I am a mother of three wonderful children. I am co-owner of Freight Yard Restaurant and Pub for 26 Years and Trail House Kitchen & Bar for this past year. I have served on several boards Such as 1Berkshire, Mount Greylock Regional School Committee, and Williamstown Community Day Care.

Tell us about a challenge you faced on your path, and what you learned from it?
Access to funding has been the hardest part of the business end.  I have seen other businesses get loans and support during hard times and I have been denied.  This is something I have run into time and again. Also, make sure your hiring people who have great personalities even if they have no skills you can train the person with the great personality.

What “secret to success” would you share with young women entering the (Berkshire) workforce?
Women who want to succeed need to work hard to accomplish what the male counterpart has accomplished meaning to get equal ground we need to be almost more successful. It is in working harder and smarter that will get us to where we want to be.  One thing I think we should do is make sure we are letting other women to rise with us.  Teach our daughters to have the courage and skills that we do and make sure they are educated just as equally as our sons
have been.

What Berkshire women in business inspire you and why?
