1Berkshire helps Techstars hold a “startup weekend”

“GREAT BARRINGTON — A company that holds worldwide events for entrepreneurs who are looking to start new businesses is bringing one of those gatherings to the Berkshires this fall.

With assistance from Google and 1Berkshire, Techstars will hold a “startup weekend” event Nov. 1 through 3 at Berkshire Community College’s South County Center on Main Street. The event officially will be called Startup Weekend: Berkshire Economy.

The three-day, 54-hour event will include networking, pitch contests, team exercises, speakers and coaching sessions. It culminates in “Demo Sunday,” where ideas developed over the first two days of the event will be presented and judged. The Sunday presentation will take place from 3 to 8:30 p.m. at the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center in Great Barrington.

The cost for seven meals are included in the event’s $45 registration fee. No previous business experience is required for participation.”
