One of the most exciting aspects of my job as 1Berkshire’s Creative Economy Specialist is that I get to meet innovative, creative, and inspiring people from all across the county. From fine artists and artisans to cultural workers and freelancers, the fabric of our creative community is wonderfully rich. The number and diversity of creative businesses in the Berkshires is a source of pride for many who live here and helps us stand out in a national field of creatively robust communities.
1Berkshire is committed to supporting and strengthening these creative businesses, which is why we are thrilled to announce the return of the Creative Resources Conference! Our inaugural conference held last November connected dozens of artists and entrepreneurs with experts, resources, and advice in order to advance attendees’ creative pursuits. Connections were made, new ideas were developed, and insights were realized!
MASS MoCA will host our next Creative Resources Conference on Tuesday, January 24, 2017. We are excited to present the event in North Adams this winter, against the backdrop of an expanding museum and a burgeoning creative city. Our keynote speaker will be Cathy Edwards, Executive Director of the New England Foundation for the Arts (NEFA), an internationally recognized organization that supports the arts and creative economy throughout New England.
Ms. Edwards is just one of many cultural and industry leaders who will speak at the conference. Stay tuned to find out more about the panels, workshops, and other programs we will be presenting. I can tell you, however, that there will be a new slate of programming for cultural nonprofits!
The Creative Resources Conference is a reflection of the community. Not only does Berkshire County boast a critical mass of creative makers, but its network of service providers and business resources provide critical support to these vast creative ventures. Demonstrate your support for the creative economy by sponsoring this important event.
We believe that independent creative enterprise is one of the keys to a strong economy and community. It is my hope that the Creative Resources Conference enables its attendees to feel inspired, connected, and better equipped to build businesses and make a living in the Berkshires.
