Plans are underway for the 64th Annual Fall Foliage Parade, presented by 1Berkshire. Each year, the volunteer parade committee selects a theme that is sure to resonate with the community and visitors alike. This year is no different with There’s No Place Like Home in The Berkshires, in honor of the cinematic classic The Wizard of Oz, which is celebrating its 80th anniversary. The Wizard of Oz premiered August 25, 1939, and immediately gained national attention. This theme has captured the hearts and creativity of so many in the region, who plan to participate in this year’s parade.
The Fall Foliage Parade celebrates our region and the beauty of the foliage season in the Berkshires. With the help from many generous volunteers, 1Berkshire and the City of North Adams plan and prepare for the parade as part of the Fall Foliage Festival. Each year the planning committee works to incorporate more bands, floats, marching units, and additional entertainment. To do so, the community’s support is needed to raise the $40,000 necessary to continue this annual tradition and make it bigger and better each year.
1Bershire invites YOU to be part of this year’s cast. Pull the curtain back and be part of the parade as a participant; find it in your heart to consider a donation; or dust off your ruby red slippers and follow the yellow brick road to downtown North Adams on Sunday, October 6, to enjoy this time-honored annual tradition, which kicks off at 1 PM.
