BERKSHIRE COUNTY, MA – 1Berkshire held the second of three pitch competitions Tuesday night at The Stationery Factory in Dalton, this round focused on creative economy business ideas. Five entrepreneurs presented their business plans before a panel of judges made up of local business leaders, with three being awarded prize money and mentors.
First place and $1000 was awarded to Tonio Palmer of Tyringham, whose product, Wizzy Wrap, is an innovative and elegant way to wrap gifts with fabric (or other reusable materials). A ribbon is integrated into the outer edge of the fabric so that with one pull the gift is wrapped.
Second place and $300 was awarded to Gabriella Sheehan of Pittsfield, whose business, Happimess, offers art/crafting classes for working parents to connect with their children and other parents in an educational environment using new and recycled materials, focusing on developmental skills based on age, and free from technology.
Third place and $100 was awarded to Peter Nugent and Michelle Murphy of Lanesborough, whose business, Dronez Aerial, is the only FAA-approved drone photography and videography business in the Berkshires.
The final competition’s theme is food/farming/agriculture and the application deadline is April 14.
Pitch competitions are open for public viewing, limited by space. All pitch competitions are held at The Stationery Factory in 63 Flansburg Avenue, Dalton Mass. From 5:30-7:30pm.
