Since 1999, Jennifer Dowley has been the president of the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation, a nonprofit organization focused on charitable giving in four counties over three states. At the end of this year, Jennifer plans to bring her remarkable 16-year tenure to an end. In those 16 years, she has helped the organization double the number of its employees, increase its assets from $18 million to $118 million, and most importantly, more than tripled the number of funds the organization oversees.
Jennifer’s passion for charity and her commitment to the region has had a tremendous and tangible impact. Nonprofits, ranging from early childhood education to affordable housing and nonprofit capacity-building, have all benefited from her desire to see our region flourish. Her commitment to philanthropy has certainly helped build stronger communities and fostered an environment of unity.
Since its inception in 2013, Jennifer has also been an important member of the 1Berkshire Strategic Alliance Foundation Board, her contributions and guidance in this organization will be sorely missed. Luckily for us, Jennifer’s departure from Berkshire Taconic does not mean a total loss for our community. She says that she still plans to take on new challenges in the world of nonprofits and philanthropy.
There is no doubt that she has had a positive impact on our region and we thank her for her many years of service and look forward to seeing where the future takes her.
