What is your 3-sentence biography/ What is personal elevator pitch?
Family is the number one priority of this Berkshire born and raised banking professional woman. As the mother of two beautiful daughters, I know that spending quality time with them and passing down family traditions is of great importance. Professionally speaking, building strong community partnerships and investing in others is my life’s goal.
Tell us about a challenge you faced on your path, and what you learned from it.
My greatest challenge has always been about balancing family life with a career. I learned that support comes from other working-women, who also struggle along this path. We all learn from one another by sharing and offering empathy. It is not easy. I am proud to share, that two years ago I was asked to chair “Greylock’s Women’s Leadership Committee.” The main goal of this committee is to provide a better working environment for all women at Greylock and to be a strong voice for them. It has been a wonderful experience working with my Greylock sisters.
What “secret to success” would you share with young women entering the (Berkshire) workforce?
Always be on your “A” game, you never know who is watching and when opportunities will present themselves. Hard work, loyalty and pushing yourself to your fullest potential are key ingredients and to top it off, believe in yourself.
What Berkshire women in business inspire you and why?
I would like to recognize two individuals; the first is Karen Kowalczyk, a Certified Public Accountant who began her own business in Pittsfield just a few years ago. I admire Karen’s true go-getter attitude and how she always looks for ways to enhance her skills. She is very professional and has the best interest of others at heart. The second person is Kim Matthews, who served as legal counsel for Legacy Bank but recently went after her true passion and received her Master’s Degree in Social Work. Kim is now a licensed clinical social worker at Hospice Care. I value Kim’s devotion and kind heart and I appreciate Kim’s willingness to give guidance and advice.
