If there was ever a person who could sell the splendor of the Berkshires, it would be Brian Butterworth. Brian is the Vice President of Sales for Main Street Hospitality Group in Stockbridge and has been a valuable part of their organizations since 2003. He has mentored and trained a number of tourism professionals and brought in travelers from across the globe. His presence in the tourism community has been so impactful that the National Tour Association’s President Pam Inman recently awarded him with the James D. Santini award for legislative advocacy on behalf of the tourism industry.
So, why does Brian do what he does? To put it simply: he loves it here. Not just because of the picturesque mountains and the burgeoning art scene, but because he thinks the people make the area great. “The Berkshires offer residents a community where they can make a difference,” he said, “we have developing businesses, dedicated community organizations, and a regional entrepreneurial spirit that work to improve the quality of all our lives.”
Yet, Brian does so much more than just draw in visitors. He is a father and husband, an active member of the local community, an avid hiker and outdoorsman, and even the former chair of the Berkshire Visitors Bureau. The Berkshires are in his blood, and in his family’s. His wife, Amy, is a local ceramicist and the Office Manager for the Berkshire Botanical Garden. His children went to school and worked in the area.
The tourism community has seen fit to recognize Brian’s impressive achievements and us here at 1Berkshire believe that the Berkshires should do the same. So, congratulations, Brian, and thank you for all you’ve done for the region!
