For most people, the word “millennial” elicits instant reactions. Early last year, the number of employed millennials surpassed the number of Gen Xers for the first time to become the largest demographic in the American workforce. Harnessing the creativity and power of the millennial workforce will clearly be a benefit to moving our region forward. 1Berkshire is pleased to announce a new opportunity to explore just how your business can do that.
In 2014, 1Berkshire undertook an effort to recruit and retain 22-40-year-olds in the Berkshires. This effort, known as the Berkshire Initiative for Growth (B.I.G.) is working to develop programs and mobilize necessary resources to support in these endeavors. They recently connected us with an organization known as “Live in the Grey” out of New York City whose mission is focused on finding professional fulfillment.
In April, 1Berkshire is hosting “Our Next B.I.G. Idea: Understanding the Future of Work and How to Attract and Retain Millennials,” bringing experts from Live in the Grey here to facilitate a unique half-day educational event for Berkshire businesses. This event will feature remarks from Brad Lande, CEO of Live in the Grey; a panel discussion including Berkshire CEOs that have embraced some unique workplace philosophies; and a special “Values at Work” training exercise.
The Berkshire region is serious about its efforts to attract young people to come and stay. We are a place of real possibility, where our private and public sector are made up of inspiring individuals working to create a better community for all. This event will focus all of us on how crucial it is to ensure that millennials have an opportunity to both feel fulfilled by their work and contribute to something larger than themselves in a positive way. Join us in this important discovery.
The event is scheduled to take place on April 13, 8:30 AM -12:30 PM at The Colonial Theatre. Get your tickets while they last.
