May 15, 2020 – Pittsfield, MA – After four well-attended and engaging Virtual Town Halls, 1Berkshire has announced its fifth conversation, to be held on Friday, May 22nd, 2020 at 10 AM, with a focus on Higher Education During COVID-19. Moderated by 1Berkshire President and CEO, Jonathan Butler, this panel will include President James Birge of Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, President Ellen Kennedy of Berkshire Community College, and President Maud Mandel of Williams College.
This panel of college presidents representing the community, public, and private higher education sectors will share the impacts felt, tactics utilized, and outlook ahead as it pertains to higher education here in the Berkshires and beyond. This panel of institutional leaders is guaranteed to give deepened insights into how higher education is facing COVID-19 impacts, and how those impacts may be felt throughout the region both in the short and long term.
“Here in the Berkshires, we are lucky to be home to the first community college in Massachusetts, one of the top public liberal arts colleges in the country, and one of the top private liberal arts colleges in the country. The impact of these institutions both locally and beyond is immense, so having the chance to hear directly from their top leadership as they face the COVID-19 pandemic is sure to be an incredibly powerful moment,” stated Jonathan Butler.
