Tourism Sector Provides Strong Economic Base for Berkshires

The increase in Berkshire visitor spending in 2015 attests to the strong Berkshire brand and the high quality of the attractions visitors find here. Ideally this will be reflected a year from now when the 2016 statistics come in. Visitor spending increased by 6.6 percent over 2014, generating $453 million in spending at local businesses according to figures provided by the Massachusetts Office of Travel and Tourism (Eagle, November 17). Restaurants and lodging establishments benefited specifically and an additional $12.9 million in tax revenue was generated. Read more about tourist spending >>
