Welcome to the third round of our behind-the-scenes Meet the Staff column. All that 1Berkshire accomplishes is made possible by our 10 dedicated, hardworking staff members. From producing content for 8 social media channels that highlight our members in both the visitor and business-to-business sectors, to managing the building at 66 Allen Street for multiple organizations, our mission to foster economic development and bolster tourism is realized every single day through the stewardship and devotion of these loyal individuals.
Enjoy getting to know two more members of the 1Berkshire team: Katie Brelsford, Director of Finance.
Meet Katie Brelsford, Director of Finance
Katie is all about family and community. She is the first one to volunteer to go through her cupboards to help out a local person or find anything else they need. So when the Director of Finance position opened up in 2015 she knew this was the right path for her to take.
Tell us a little about your role at 1Berkshire.
I am the Director of Finance in the 1B Business Office. We take care of the building, IT, HR, accounting, and all things administrative. I couldn’t do anything that I do without my team though.
What do you most enjoy about living, working, and playing in the Berkshires?
I love the collaborative nature of the Berkshires. I have lived here most of my life and the small town feel is what made me bring my family up here as well. I love the natural beauty of all the towns, no matter where you are you can find amazing hiking trails.
Tell us one fun fact about you – professional or personal.
This might come as a surprise to my co-workers but I love animals. Dogs have a special place in my heart but there are very few animals that I do not like.
What do you most enjoy about your job?
I love my 1B Family. The staff at 1Berkshire make the hard days so much easier. There is always someone who is willing to jump in, roll up their sleeves and help with whatever is needed.
Is there anything you wish people knew about 1Berkshire that perhaps they are unaware of?
We are one of the reasons that visitors come to any part of the county (South, Central, or North) but that is just one part of what we do. We are a part of so many of the conversations to make the Berkshires a better place to work, live and visit.
