NBN was launched in 2012 to provide networking and professional development opportunities for nonprofit business professionals and facilitate collaboration on projects that will benefit the nonprofit sector and the overall community.
BNS was developed by NBN to help identify collaboration opportunities for 501(c)3 nonprofits, a key aspect of the Berkshire economy that faces tough budgets and higher needs, and to also provide a more efficient distribution of state, federal, and philanthropic dollars. Through targeted assistance, these important organizations can better serve our communities.
NBN was founded in response to a study of the nonprofit sector in the Berkshires conducted in 2008. Updated in 2015, the study reflects that nonprofit businesses in the county generate $1.44 billion in total expenditures annually, 27,439 jobs, and provide $100 million in tax revenue for state and local governments.
